The Biobased Business Event, held in Emmen (22 September, 2016), has been a great success. On the Emmtec Science and Business Park participants interested in education, business, government and research met each other on a lively fair.
This year the Biobased business event focused on the theme Green Chemistry: biocomposites and biopolymers. The Carbohydrate Competence Center occupied one of the 80 stands on the floor, and has provided information to diverse visitors, students, researchers as well as entrepreneurs. This was an efficient way to look for (business) partners for new CCC research programs on carbohydrates and biobased economy.
One of the highlights of the day was the kick-off of BERNN, the Biobased Economy Region Northern Netherlands in which the knowledge institutes of the Northern Netherlands join forces to collaborate with companies in their quest for new products and processes in the field of biobased economy. CCC is involved in this initiative.
In line with this year’s theme, the event was combined with the 3D Print EU conference. A surprisingly large number of students was present, as well as young start-up companies in 3D Print, biobased and/or circular economy products. Also many established companies showed their interest in the emerging market of biobased economy, by presenting new biobased materials and applications.
A short report (in Dutch) is available at the website of the event:
