CCC: Innovative in carbohydrates
CCC is a new centre of expertise in the field of carbohydrates. Prominent knowledge institutes and major companies collaborate under the umbrella of CCC to increase the Agro-Food industry’s innovative capacity. CCC gathers together fragments of knowledge on carbohydrates, expands and refines this knowledge, and develops new methods and techniques for sustainable production. CCC has a strong profile in this field in the national and international research arenas.
Knowledge centre in the north of the Netherlands with national and international ambitions
CCC is in every respect a North Netherlands Competence Center. Our main office is in the city of Groningen, in the far north of the country, and our partners are all established in the north of the Netherlands or have economic ties with the region. Many northern industrial and agricultural businesses profit from our activities. But our horizons are not limited to northern Agro-Food. CCC’s activities dovetail with the major national and European themes. As the northern knowledge centre, we want to increase the added value of our activities in national production chains and contribute to strengthening the Netherlands’ position in the bio-based economy.
Economic impact
Agro-Food is of huge economic importance to the Netherlands, and particularly the north. Agriculture and industry need to innovate continuously to maintain our international lead. CCC drives this process with innovative research. We are supplying new practical knowledge that can be applied directly in the field to increase added value, while another important focus is cost reduction. CCC is thus actively helping to improve the competitive position of Agro-Food in the Netherlands, and particularly the northern Netherlands, both in the production of agricultural raw materials and in the industrial processing of these materials into foodstuffs and other products.
