BioBRUG: Bringing together the Best of Both Worlds
Biobased Economy meets Academic World
Despite the economic crisis, the demand for specific academic knowledge from Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SME) in the Northern Netherlands is growing. This is a hopeful sign in difficult times. Knowledge institutes, the business world and the government are all working together to create partnerships to find answers to these questions from the SME. The aim is to develop innovative solutions and thus make the Northern SMEs more competitive. One of the most recent initiatives is BioBRUG, a regional framework programme in which companies in the Life Sciences, materials, chemical and energy sector in the North of the Netherlands can cooperate with the University of Groningen.

'Where can we sign up?'
On 25 January 2012 Lubbert Dijkhuizen, Scientific Director of the Carbohydrate Competence Center, informed SME enterpreneurs from the Northern Netherlands about opportunities for using research for innovation. His message was clear and simple: 'There is something happening here in Groningen, join us.'
